Tummy Tuck
For many women, excess fat or skin in the tummy and waistline area is a concern.
Abdominoplasty surgery is designed to reduce and/or remove excess fat and skin around the abdominal area.
Gold Coast plastic surgeon, Dr Dilip Gahankari is a highly experienced abdominoplasty surgeon and will determine the procedure that suits your personal circumstances and offers you the best possible results.
Is this procedure for me?
An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is the surgical removal of excess skin and fat from the abdomen, and the repositioning of the abdomen muscles into a firmer formation.
The tummy tuck procedure involves an incision at the lower abdomen, and possibly a second incision at the navel.
Liposculpture may also be used to contour the tummy and part of the hip area, and to reduce skin damage and limit the length of the scar.
All of the above details will be discussed and explained further during your initial free consultation with Dr Dilip Gahankari on the Gold Coast.
Pre and Post-Op Care
The extent of surgery required, recovery period and results of this procedure varies from patient to patient.
Usual light activities can typically be resumed within two weeks, although a pressure garment must be worn for some weeks to support the abdomen as the muscles repair and the swelling and bruising subside.
Generally speaking, after three weeks the majority of patients can return to work and light exercises such as walking.
In the majority of cases, six weeks after surgery patients are able to re-engage in everyday activities, however it is still advised that you avoid anything strenuous that puts pressure on the abdominal wall.
It is important to keep in mind that all patients and their surgery recoveries are different, and given everyone’s unique circumstances, Dr Gahankari will discuss your surgical options and recovery times during your initial consultation.
What Results Can I Expect?
Results will vary from patient to patient. This surgery is designed to result in a flatter, firmer and more contoured stomach.
It may take up to a year for your body to completely adapt to the new abdominal configuration.
