Breast Enlargement
Some women may seek breast enlargement as they feel dissatisfied with their natural breast size, their breasts have lost volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding, or they have an imbalance in the size between their breasts.
Breast augmentation surgery, also known as a breast enlargement or breast implant surgery involves the surgical insertion of an implant behind each breast, increasing the size of the breast.
Experienced Gold Coast plastic surgeon, Dr Dilip Gahankari has been performing breast enlargements for more than 21 years.
He has the knowledge and experience to ensure the procedure is tailored to your individual circumstances and personal goals.
During your initial consultation, Dr Gahankari will discuss the details such as the appropriate specifications of your breast augmentation surgery, while providing you with a detailed outline of the procedure and your expected recovery journey.

Is this procedure for me?
There are many factors to be decided upon when choosing breast enlargement surgery: the size and type of the implant, the type of implant surface, the shape of the implant, and whether the implant will be placed under or over the muscle. These choices depend on the individual’s personal preferences, goals, body type and your surgeon’s recommendations. These will be discussed in full during your initial consultation.
In most cases the breast augmentation procedure will take place on the Gold Coast as day surgery under general anaesthetic.
Typically, you will be released from hospital the day of your surgery and you will need to be picked up by a friend or family member.
Pre and Post-Op Care
You can expect to experience mild pain and discomfort for the first two to three days after your surgery, however Dr Gahankari will manage your pain with medication appropriate to your needs and medical circumstances. You can typically expect to be able to return to work within 2-7 days after a breast augmentation procedure.
Recovery and results will vary from patient to patient. It is recommended to refrain from driving for two weeks after your breast augmentation surgery.
Swelling, bruising and tenderness will be present for two to three weeks after your surgery, while for some, this can extend for a couple of months.
Light physical activity, such as walking can typically be resumed after two weeks, however it is advised that rigorous physical activity be avoided for six weeks after breast augmentation surgery.
What Results Can I Expect?
Results vary from patient to patient, however, breast augmentation surgery is designed to create full, firm breasts.
While you will notice a change immediately to the appearance of your breasts, it can take up to six months for your breasts to settle in to their final position and shape.
Patients are typically able to resume normal, light activities within a few days, depending on your individual circumstances.
